A Never to be Forgotten Summer

“all in all, it was a never to be forgotten summer — one of those summers which come seldom into any life, but leave a rich heritage of beautiful memories in their going — one of those summers which, in a fortunate combination of delightful weather, delightful friends and delightful doing, come as near to perfection as anything can come in this world.”

Roan_Mountain_TN_2016_Family_Reunion01i don’t think i could explain it any better than that quote above. go back and read it one more time, in case you skipped over it the first time :) a rare occurrence to have so many of us in one place. a rich, rich heritage. delightful weather. delightful company. delightful outings. as close to perfection as i could dream our time together would be.

instead of focusing on taking photos, i wanted to do something a little different while our family was all together last month. this was the house where my grandfather grew up, and now belongs to him and my grandma, so we’ve got about 100 years of family history on this little corner hidden away in east tennessee. this is “home” for everyone in my immediate family, and has more meaning and significance than I could explain. since we’re spread out all over the country, it’s incredibly rare that we can all be in the same place at the same time, much less have so many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family there with us too. it was truly something we had been looking forward to for almost a year.

i knew i wanted something a little different to mark the occasion, and i am thrilled and humbled and so very excited to share this video of our time together. there are four generations present here, a gift we absolutely do not take for granted.

while I am most definitely NOT a videographer, my very talented friends Phil and Katie were able to take my chaotic video clips from the week, and turn them into something beautiful that our entire family will cherish for years to come. this video turned out exactly like I dreamed it would from the very beginning. thank you both for your work, time, and talent to bless our family with this!

enjoy a little glimpse into our own little piece of heaven on earth :)
